Refund Policy

Note: Donations made through OpenOrphanage are processed by our partner KingdomInvest.ing. Their payment policies also apply.

1. Donation Refunds

We understand that circumstances change. Our donation refund policy is as follows:

Within 48 Hours

Full refunds are available for donations made within the last 48 hours, provided the funds have not yet been disbursed to the orphanage.

48 Hours to 14 Days

Refunds may be available on a case-by-case basis. Processing fees (typically 2.9% + $0.30) may be deducted.

After 14 Days

Refunds are generally not available after 14 days, as funds are typically disbursed to orphanages within this period. Exceptions may be made for fraudulent transactions or billing errors.

2. Recurring Donations

You can cancel recurring donations at any time through your dashboard. Cancellation stops future charges but does not refund past donations.

3. Sponsorship Refunds

Child sponsorships are managed through MakingFriends.faith. Their refund policy applies to:

  • Monthly sponsorship payments
  • One-time sponsorship gifts
  • Special occasion contributions

4. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, please contact us with:

  • Your email address used for the donation
  • Transaction date and amount
  • Reason for the refund request

5. Processing Time

Approved refunds are typically processed within 5-10 business days. The time for the refund to appear in your account depends on your payment method and financial institution.

6. Exceptions

We will always provide refunds in cases of:

  • Unauthorized or fraudulent transactions
  • Duplicate charges
  • Technical errors resulting in incorrect amounts
  • Orphanage removal due to policy violations

7. Tax Considerations

If you received a tax receipt for your donation, a refund may require an amended receipt. Please consult with a tax professional regarding any tax implications of refunds.
